just as the topic suggests. Would i be able to use the autel VCI that came with my maxisys mini on a windows based OBD2 software. via bluetooth or USB? anyone try this?

Just wondering as i will be getting a windows 10 tablet soon.

It depends on the software that you want to use, it works great with Toyota Techstream. Most software like Chrysler WiTech, Nissan Consult and Ford Ids all need their dedicated VCI's to work. It will also work with some after market software such as Forscan,.

Edit: I did not fully read your post, I missed the part about the "mini". I was referring to the j2534 that comes with the Maxisys Pro. You should disregard my previous comment...... Sorry, my mistake.

Hope your VCI  don't get Excommunicated from your Mini by messing with your Forescan, maybe a Rabbi can help you?

Yeah , just ask any Rabbi , if if  you botch the forscan removal (circumcision process ) you could lose your Mini from broken Windows and make the little green Android driver become inoperative.  Once the old gal's screen goes black she'll never be back and you'll have your self an Orphan child on your hands with life support from an AC adapter :-)

I honestly don't know if Windows might overwrite something that could cause the VCI to quit  working with your Mini, and if you are out of warranty you might be forced to buy a total care update to get support to help that could be a week or more of down time even if still in warranty.

yeah i decided against doing that. I dont have to try very hard to break this thing. the blutooth stopped working again all on it's own! now i have to send my unit in. when i need it the most.
